(Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin: The Perishable Press, July 4th, 1970). 286 x 185 mm. (11 1/4 x 7 1/4"). leaves. ONE OF 136 COPIES.
Vellum backed marbled boards by Douglas Cockerell & Son. Printed in several colors. Hamady 35. Two small rust spots on vellum, a breath of spotting along lower edge of boards, preliminary leaves and title with a couple of isolated spots (one on title page) and a hint of spotting to fore-edge, but still a very pleasing copy despite these minor faults, clean and crisp throughout.
According to the colophon, this book was "hand set in palatino & smarged & printed on the first ream of shadwell made in our new house south of blue mounds." The Perishable Press was founded in the 1960's by Walter Hamady (b. 1940), an American book artists, typographer, and papermaker who collaborated with numerous writers and visual artists on his many limited edition publications.
