This posthumous publication is a touching tribute to a beloved brother, from the library of the author's grandson. Bookseller and writer Everard Meynell (1882-1926) was the elder brother of Francis, founder of the Nonesuch Press. In 1921, he contracted tuberculosis, and traveled with his wife, Grazia, to her family in Buffalo. His illness led to an extended stay in the Perrysburg hospital, where he wrote the present work. Following his death in 1926, Francis printed this piece of his brother's work; according to Dreyfus, it was handset on the press in the Nonesuch office basement, produced in only a "small edition." In an additionally personal touch, the imprint indicates that Francis printed this for his brother's immediate family, with the initials standing for Grazia and their children Joan, Alice, Wilfrid, and Vivian Meynell. This copy is from the collection of sculptor Everard Meynell, the grandson of the Everard who wrote this book. (ST20207b)
